  i just had the question below reported by jws and removed for "misuse of question format" .. .

  it received a bunch of outraged reponses from people critical of the jws and i'm sure shocked.

  I think, though, just to be fair, that the WT writers may have been thinking of other cultures and practices when they wrote this, because I heard or read (probably in the WT somewhere, lol) that in China or ancient China, or perhaps among other cultures, that this was an acceptable practice to calm babies. But for us reading this statement today without any context of that sort of background to which they could have been referring, sounds weird and sick and twisted and just wrong, wrong, wrong!

  Going Beyond the Things Written.

  i went to the meeting today.

  i go probably once a month for various reasons i have alluded to here.. .

  i don't know what the title of the talk was, since i pulled my usual come in 5 minutes late, muster a fake "i'm mildly embarrassed" look on my face and slip in the back row move, but the crux of it was to not go 'beyond the things written'.. .

  "since jehovah god and jesus christ completely trust the faithful and discreet slave, should we not do the same?

  watchtower 2009 feb 15 p.27 how do we know that god and jesus christ trust them completly?
